Microsoft Windows Server Support

Posted 05 September 2008

<< Previous | Next >>

Its never going to be a good day when a Windows Server decides to reboot itself and then hang at the "preparing network connections" prompt instead of fully booting to a login screen, especially when it hangs for several hours! This is a problem not seen very often, but fortunately after some good head scratching (and giving the server a very good looking at) we found the problem. Most of the errors pointed towards a complete failure of Active Directory but in the end it was the Domain Naming Service. After a bit of re-configuration the Server came back to life and the business could carry on with their work.
